After graduating in 2009 with an Interdisciplinary Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi, Alison hit the road for a nice long road trip around North America. Little did she know, at that time, that the Northwest Territories would become her home. Three years later, Alison is starting to suspect  that she may have fallen into the well known trap of : “I came to Yellowknife for a Summer… 20 years ago!”.

Very much influenced by the Canadian North, Alison’s more recent work reflects the quirks, humor and particularities of living North of 60. Through her comics, illustrations and sketches, Alison prides herself in showing a different side to that promoted in the tourism brochures. Shack dwelling, houseboat living, freeze-up commuting are all themes that have been many times brought to light in her work. Locals get it – or at least, they seem to.

Alison’s work has been shown in a selection of non-commercial galleries, has been published in magazines, has been commissioned for a variety of illustration contracts and is currently for sale in Yellowknife.
